Livia FRITZ, Assistant Professor Livia Fritz is Assistant Professor at the Department of Geography and Environment at the Geneva School of Social Sciences and the Institute for Environmental Sciences. Prior to joining UNIGE, she was Assistant Professor at Aarhus University and held research and teaching positions at the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Lausanne (EPFL), Ludwig-Maximilians University (LMU) and the Austrian Foundation for Development Research (OEFSE). She was also a guest researcher at Potsdam Institute for Climate Impact Research (PIK/MCC), Leuphana University and the Technische Universität Berlin. She holds a Phd from EPFL. |

Research Her research examines the social and political dimensions of climate change and the levers and barriers to sustainability transformations. She asks who gets to shape these transformations, whose values and knowledge count, and with what consequences for justice. From a systemic and socio-technical perspective, she investigates how public policies, technologies and social practices interact, and how tensions between competing visions of the future are negotiated at the science–policy interface. Her empirical work ranges from urban mobility and planning to public engagement with novel climate technologies and infrastructures. Ultimately, her work contributes to interdisciplinary knowledge for planning and governing transformations towards more just and sustainable futures. |
