Joe Costanzo (or Dr Joseph Costanzo, if preferred)

Joseph Costanzo a obtenu un double doctorat en sciences politiques et sociales de l’Université de Liège (Belgique) et en études urbaines (PhD) de l’Université de Maryland (USA). Il a un parcours professionnel assez exceptionnel et une connaissance de différents contextes ayant travaillé plusieurs années dans le secteur public (pour le gouvernement fédéral américain, US Census Bureau et US Citizenship & Immigration Services), international (pour des organisations dont l’OIM, le HCR et Save the Children) et universitaire (le CEDEM en Belgique, l’Institute for Immigration Research à l’Université de George Mason, USA et le UK Institute for Migration Research en Angleterre). Ses intérêts de recherche portent sur les mécanismes informels et institutionnels de l’intégration et des identités locales, les résidents d’origine migrante y compris.

Joseph Costanzo was awarded dual doctorates in political and social sciences from the University of Liege (Belgium) and in urban studies (PhD) from the University of Maryland (USA). His unique career path in the migration field spans various key sectors: national government (US Census Bureau and US Citizenship & Immigration Services), international (notably for IOM, UNHCR and Save the Children) and academia (CEDEM in Belgium, Institute for Immigration Research at George Mason University in the US and the UK Institute for Migration Research in England). His primary research interests focus on the informal and institutional mechanisms for local integration and the formation of local identity-ies including residents of migrant backgrounds.
