John received his under graduate degree in physics from Boston College in 2010. In 2016 he obtained his PhD in Astronomy from the University of Wisconsin-Madison, where he worked with Professor Christy Tremonti. His thesis was entitled “The scaling relations and physical conditions of multi-phase galactic outflows”, which focused on characterizing the temperatures, densities, and acceleration properties of galactic outflows in the local universe. In 2016 he joined Professor Daniel Schaerer at the University of Geneva where he is studying the effects of galactic outflows on the escape of high-energy photons and the properties of the star-forming galaxies in the early universe.
