Biography
Antonio Cava obtained a Graduate Degree in Physics in 2004 from the University of Milan (Italy) and a PhD in Physics, Astrophysics and Applied Physics in 2008 from the University of Milan (Italy) in join-supervision with the Astronomical Observatory of Padova. From 2008 to 2011 he was Postdoc Research Assistant at the Institute of Astrophysics of the Canary Islands (IAC), within the group ”Formation and evolution of galaxies: infrared and multiwavelegth observations” led by prof. I.Perez Fournon. Then, from 2011 to 2013, he moved as a post-doc at the Universidad Complutense de Madrid working to the SHARDS (Survey for High-z Absorption Red and Dead Sources; the deepest ever extragalactic medium band survey) project, led by prof. P.G.Perez-Gonzalez. In 2013 he joined the SINERGIA-STARFORM collaboration as a post-doc at the Astronomy Department (Geneva Observatory) of the University of Geneva, working on multiwavelength observations of high-redshift star forming galaxies within the extragalactic astrophysics group led by prof. D.Schaerer.
His current research interests cover the formation and evolution of galaxies, (clumpy) star formation in high-redshift (lensed) galaxies, the dynamics and evolution of galaxy clusters and the interplay between the environment and the evolution of cluster galaxies populations.
He has coauthored over 150 journal and conference papers in astrophysics.
