Germination: defeating bacteria with their own weapons
In collaboration with researchers from EPGL, the team of Luis Lopez-Molina has identified a toxin produced by Pseudomonas aeruginosa, called AMB. The toxin causes the seeds to block their germination, to avoid exposing the seedlings to deadly infections caused by this pathogen, after germination. These results were published on August 28, 2018 in eLife.
