When you supervise a master student

Sometimes master students come to me for asking for stage (a couple of months) or master thesis (a half to one year). If I see a good matching between the student and the group member, he/she may be assigned to you. Here is the guide.

1. Plan your project and discuss with Kaori if it makes sense.
2. Announce the new personnel to the whole group by mailing list (briefly which instrument he/she will be using).
3. If the student is for a master thesis (more than half year), put him/her in the group member page with a profile photo.
4. It is your responsibility to motivate him/her, guide the project, and train him/her for new technique, but of course you can come to me anytime for an additional discussions.
5. Towards the end check their report.
6. When they finished, upload the thesis in our wiki page and update the member page in “Alumni”.
