Pd/PtBu₃-catalysed intramolecular nucleophilic addition of aryl halides to α-ketoamides in the presence of nBuOH and base has been realized with high yields, providing a new, direct, and efficient synthetic strategy to obtain 3-hydroxyoxindoles.
