Physics on show at the Old Medical School

Back in the historic building of the Ancienne École de médecine, with a brand new extension, the physicists of the UNIGE will open their doors to the public on Saturday the 1st of October. This fun event for young and old alike will allow them to discover laboratories at the cutting edge of technology.

Deflecting lightning with a laser beam, combating espionage with new forms of encryption, designing a material as light as air but as hard as steel... The many workshops designed by UNIGE physicists will enable visitors to familiarise themselves with these condensed forms of knowledge and technology during the Open Day on Saturday 1 October at the Ancienne École de Médecine, thanks to routes adapted to all ages. In addition to these activities, the public will be able to discover the brand new extension of the historic building, which houses eight new laboratories, some of which are high-tech, as well as take part in a treasure hunt or attend a physics show. The day will also be an opportunity to meet the physics researchers.
