 About us

The Earth Surface Dynamics Research Group at the University of Geneva, led by Prof. Sébastien Castelltort since 2011, works to decode sedimentary and landscape archives, investigating sediment production, transport, and deposition. Our team seeks to understand drivers and dynamics of tectonic and climatic evolution of the Earth, utilising an interdisciplinary approach with field geology at its core.

Our group focuses on understanding element exchange between rocks, sediments, and the surface environment, especially the carbon cycle and its connection to climate change and geomorphic processes across temporal scales. Our objective is to understand the dynamics of source-to-sink systems to be able to read and tell to the society the narrative of Earth’s response to past environmental perturbations.
