Congratulations to Prof. Marie Besse for her distinction as "Chevalier dans l'Ordre des Palmes acadEmiques", awarded by the Prime Minister of France.

This award honours Marie Besse for her service in favour of the national education. We also congratulate our former post-doc Blair Schoene (2007-2009), and former Ph. D. student Fidel Costa (1995-1999) for their recent awards. Blair Shoene now assistant professor at Princeton University, for obtaining the 2013 F.W. Clarke Award of the Geochemical Society. The F. W. Clarke Award is given to an early-career scientist for a single outstanding contribution to geochemistry or cosmochemistry, published either as a single paper or a series of papers on a single topic. Fidel Costa, Principal Investigator at the Earth Observatory of Singapore, has been awarded the Wager Medal 2013, IAVCEI. The medal to a scientist up to 15 years after Ph.D acquisition, who has made outstanding contributions to volcanology. November 18, 2013
