Sulphur and chlorine budgets control the ore fertility of arc magmas

The record of volatile element and ore metal concentrations preserved in microscopic-sized droplets of silicate melt entrapped in igneous phenocrysts suggest that the abundance of sulfur and chlorine, rather than the abundance of ore metals controls the fertility of magmas for porphyry copper ore genesis.
