Biology and Sexualities - E-learning for Biology teachers

 

Biologie & SexualitésB&S released in Septembre 2022, is an e-learning device, intended for biology teachers whose objective is to promote sexual health and rights in schools. It provides additional knowledge to those already taught on the reproductive system, and further seeks to stimulate critical thinking about social norms and injunctions regarding bodies, gender and sexualities. 

 

The learning objectives of the training center around five main fields:

  • Embryology and anatomical diversity of human genitalia and the social issues associate to them.
  • Intersex and psycho-social issues. 
  • The physiological, neurobiological and endocrinological bases of human sexualities.
  • Aspects of child / adolescent development linked to sexual and gender diversity.
  • Sexual rights

 

 

The specificity of the educational approach of B&S is

 

  • Interdisciplinary academic knowledge (life, medical, and social sciences, sexual rights).
  •  Sex-positivity: addressing, among other things, pleasure without shame or taboos.
  •  Inclusiveness: addressing everyone equally.
  •  Illustrations adapted to a teenage audience thanks to a partnership with the cartoonist Zep.

 

  

While being specifically suited for teaching biology, B&S is part of an holistic sex education vision, which promotes learning about the cognitive, emotional, social and physical aspects of sexuality. This approach allows young people to acquire knowledge, skills and positive values regarding emotional and sexual relationships.It fosters safe, nurturing relationships and helps to change attitudes that lead to discrimination and violence because of sex, gender or sexual orientation and emotional.

 

 

B&S concretely is

  • 5 to 10 hours of illustrated interdisciplinary e-learning (text / audio / video.
  • Teaching sequences to be inserted into an existing course.
  •  Answers to the most frequent questions of young people, collaboration with ciao.ch.
  •  A selection of web resources.
