The 8th edition of BioInnovation Day took place on 15 November 2018 at Geneva's Life Sciences Hub Campus Biotech, providing an opportunity for researchers, scientist-entrepreneurs and early-stage start-up ventures to pitch their projects to an audience of peers, investors and industry representatives.

BioInnovation Day 2018 featured 36 project pitches by academic researchers from University of Geneva, HUG, University of Lausanne, CHUV, EPFL and start-ups from Western Switzerland grouped in 4 thematic sessions: Bioengineering, Medical Devices, Therapeutics and Diagnostics. After an opening address by the rector of the University of Geneva, Yves Flückiger, the meeting kicked off with an investor panel moderated by the event's media partner Bilan. The pitch sessions were interspersed with presentations by invited speakers on various topics relevant to academia-industry partnering and/or entrepreneurship. For the full programme click hereSee also the article published in Bilan: “BioInnovation Day: l’innovation romande dans l’événementiel".

About BioInnovation Day

The BioInnovation Day series was initiated in 2006 by Prof. Robert Gurny and Prof. Ann Kato with the support of Unitec. The event is organized alternatively by Unitec or PACTT (the technology transfer office of UNIL/CHUV), and takes place either in Geneva or Lausanne, respectively. The event steering committee is composed of Unitec, PACTT, BioAlps, representatives of the local life sciences incubators, and a representative of the relevant cantonal economy development agency.
