Apostolos G. Papadopoulos

papadopoulosApostolos G. Papadopoulos is a Professor of Rural Geography and Sociology at the Department of Geography, Harokopio University of Athens (Greece). He has worked as a senior researcher and project leader in numerous research programmes financed by the European Commission, the McArthur Foundation (USA) and the Greek State. He was (2009-2011) Director of the Postgraduate Programme entitled “Applied Geography and Spatial Planning”. Currently he is Vice-Rector of Economic Affairs and Development at Harokopio University of Athens. His current research interests include the following: rural development, rural migration, local labour markets, sociology and geography of agriculture, local food, irregular migration and migration policy, migrant communities and civil society and crisis in South European countries.
