European Innovation Council

The European Innovation Council (EIC) was launched in 2018 to provide concrete support to top researchers and innovators, in the public and private sector, to investigate, develop and bring to the market radically different products, services or business models with the potential to scale up internationally.
EIC, currently in its pilot phase, offers funding, coaching and networking services with a bottom-up approach and continuously open calls with multiple cut-offs per year.
EIC operates via the most agile and business-friendly programmes of Horizon 2020: FET Open, Fast Track to Innovation, SME Instrument, Horizon Prizes.

Positive funding perspective for FP9–EC consultation

Positive signals from the European Commission regarding the 2021-2027 multi-annual financial framework (MFF) and the possible funding of research, innovation and education in that period (through FP9). No cuts to those budget posts in 2021-2027, and a possible increase of their funding.
Also the EC launched public consultation on EU funds in, among others, research & innovation. It is expected that the above-mentioned EC approach shall be confirmed through this consultation. Researchers are therefore invited to participate here

RESEARCH SERVICES LATEST NEWS

Ethics

As already mentioned in our previous Newsletter, a new Commission universitaire d'éthique de la recherche (CUREG) has been set up to respond to UNIGE researchers' requests in this regard.
Following this, the Research Services has prepared a web page bringing together the most relevant information on the main ethical issues (research on humans, animals , processing of personal data, etc.). The aim is to inform UNIGE researchers about the legal bases to which their research projects could be submitted and to refer them to the relevant persons/departments for their field of research.

For the same purpose, the Research Services (Euresearch) has also prepared a Fact Sheet on the main ethical issues related to the European Framework Program for Research and Innovation - Horizon 2020.
