A position in cognitive psychology/cognitive neuroscience/cognitive development at either PhD level (100%, up to 5 years) or Postdoctoral level (80%, 1-3 years)

with flexible start date between October 2023 and December 2023

The successful applicant will study working memory in young adults and/or children, as well as assist Prof. Evie Vergauwe in tasks related to teaching, lab management, and research.

Desired profile for position at doctoral (PhD) level:

  • Master’s degree in Psychology or a related discipline
  • Experience with experimental psychology research in humans (young adults and/or children)
  • Background in cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and/or cognitive developmental psychology
  • Very good research methods knowledge and skills
  • Interest in pursuing an academic career
  • Very good command of English (written and oral)
  • Fluency in French will be considered an advantage. A basic level of French is needed, as well as the willingness to reach the desired level in a few months after starting to position (to interact with students, participants, and administration)
  • Willingness to travel (for conferences and/or international collaborations)
  • Team spirit, and strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Interest in teaching and supervision of students
  • Programming skills (e.g., Matlab, R, Python) will be considered an advantage

Desired profile for position at Postdoctoral level:

  • PhD in psychology or a related discipline (applicants with PhD defense planned in 2023 can also apply)
  • Extensive experience with experimental psychology research in humans (young adults and/or children)
  • Background in cognitive psychology, cognitive neuroscience, and/or cognitive developmental psychology
  • Excellent research methods knowledge and skills
  • Solid programming skills (e.g., MATLAB, R, Python)
  • Interest in pursuing an academic career
  • Demonstrated scientific expertise, with publications in referred journals
  • Very good command of English (written and oral)
  • Fluency in French will be considered an advantage. A basic level of French is needed, as well as the willingness to reach the desired level in a few months after starting to position (to interact with students, participants, and administration)
  • Willingness to travel (for conferences and/or international collaborations)
  • Team spirit, and strong interpersonal and collaborative skills
  • Interest in teaching and supervision of students
  • Experience in supervising research assistants and/or master students is desirable
  • Teaching experience will be considered an advantage
  • Experience with open science and reproducible research will be considered an advantage

Offices and Lab location:

Our lab and offices are located in Geneva, Switzerland (Uni-mail, 40 Boulevard Pont d'Arve). One needs to be willing to move to Switzerland for the time of the contract.
