Presentation formats and proposal submissions - ICME4 - 4th International Conference on Music and Emotion - UNIGE

 

To submit a proposal, you should first log on the conference management system and create an account by providing your details and a valid email address. You then get a user name and a password.

Once you are logged into the system, you may submit one or multiple proposal(s), along the five possible formats eligible for the conference.

We recommend that you read the instructions below carefully before initiating the submission procedure.

Each complete proposal will be reviewed anonymously by two members of the scientific committee and anonymous reviewers. Evaluation criteria include quality of the proposals, innovation and relevance to the conference topic. Decisions of acceptance will be communicated to authors by June 30th 2015, accepted abstracts will be published in the conference book.

 

Contributions to ICME4 2015 will be possible through seven different presentation formats, all contributions must be in English:

  1. Keynote addresses have been invited by the organizing committee and will be delivered by experienced scholars investigating various aspects of the conference topic.  Keynote addresses are scheduled for 60 minutes and include 10 minutes for an open discussion with the audience.

  2. Invited papers have been invited by the organizing committee and will be delivered by experienced or young researchers or scholars investigating various aspects of the conference topic. Invited papers are scheduled for 30 minutes and include 5 minutes for an open discussion with the audience.

  3. Spoken presentations are reviewed and selected oral presentations of 30 minutes. Abstracts should be written in English. Maximum length is 250 words. Abstracts should be in the form of a single paragraph, and contain no tables, graphics, nor subheadings. When composing abstracts, we recommend considering issues such as the background, aims, method, results, and conclusions of your contribution. Prior to submission, however, any subheadings should be removed, and the abstract condensed into a single paragraph. Up to four keywords may be added as desired. Note that based on the review process of your spoken presentation, the scientific committee might propose a poster presentation instead.

  4. Poster sessions offer researchers the chance to present their work in a visual format and offer more opportunities for interaction and discussion. Formal poster presentation last 30 minutes. Poster authors are invited to be present near their poster during all different slots during the day, so that conference delegates can meet and discuss with authors. Abstracts should be written in English. Maximum length is 250 words. Abstracts should be in the form of a single paragraph, and contain no tables, graphics, nor subheadings. When composing abstracts, we recommend considering issues such as the background, aims, method, results, and conclusions of your contribution. Prior to submission, however, any subheadings should be removed, and the abstract condensed into a single paragraph. Up to four keywords may be added as desired.

  5. Symposia are composed of a series of three or four themed papers, followed by questions, to be completed within a one hour time slot. All abstracts should be written in English. All contributors should provide an abstract, maximum length of 200 words. A global summary should summarize the theme and contributions of all authors (maximum length: 250 words). Abstracts should be in the form of a single paragraph, and contain no tables, graphics, nor subheadings. When composing abstracts, we recommend considering issues such as the background, aims, method, results, and conclusions of your contribution. Prior to submission, however, any subheadings should be removed, and the abstract condensed into a single paragraph. Up to four keywords may be added as desired.

  6. Workshops should be composed of practical demonstration(s) and related methodological or/and theoretical backgrounds: a series of two or three themed papers, followed by questions, to be completed within a one hour time slot. All contributors should provide an abstract, maximum length of 200 words. A global summary should summarize the theme and contributions of all authors (maximum length: 250 words). Abstracts should be in the form of a single paragraph, and contain no tables, graphics, nor subheadings. When composing abstracts, we recommend considering issues such as the background, aims, method, results, and conclusions of your contribution. Prior to submission, however, any subheadings should be removed, and the abstract condensed into a single paragraph. Up to four keywords may be added as desired.
  7. Demonstrations: the demonstrations are reserved to industrial partners, companies, or startups. All abstracts should be written in English, maximum length of 250 words. Abstracts should be in the form of a single paragraph, and contain no tables, graphics, nor subheadings. Up to four keywords may be added as desired. Please do not hesitate to contact the organizing committee if you wish to submit a demonstration.
