Outreach and Science Communication
Our laboratory is deeply engaged in science communication and outreach, particularly in the field of microbiology. This commitment reflects one of the University’s core missions: serving the community.
We regularly organize exhibitions, conferences, laboratory visits, and hands-on experiments designed for the general public as well as for primary, lower-secondary, and upper-secondary school students.
These activities aim to spark scientific curiosity, promote understanding of the microbial world, and strengthen the connection between research and society
Associated Innitiatives:
BiOutils
Established in 2007 within the laboratory, BiOutils is an interface dedicated to promoting experimental life sciences. It supports biology education by providing schools with materials, protocols, and expertise to carry out practical activities.
Swissmicrobes
Swissmicrobes is a new information and communication platform devoted to microbiology. Focusing on microbiological research in Switzerland and recent discoveries in the field, this public-facing website (currently under development) aims to reveal the fascinating — and often overlooked — world of microorganisms.
