Health and accident insurance

Students enrolled in the MCR programme have to be insured against sickness and accident. A certificate of accident and health insurance covering Switzerland is requested .

Visa

Switzerland joined the Schengen Area in 2008 . If your country has not signed the Schengen Agreements, please consult the Swiss Confederation Visa Requirements website to check entry requirements into Switzerland.
We strongly recommend enquiring in time at the competent embassy or consulate to find out the specific conditions applicable to you.

Travel

Depending on the teaching module, you will have to travel to Sion or to Geneva.

Sion: Sion is located in the heart of the Swiss Alps, at 150 km from Geneva and 300 km from Zurich. There are regular train connections between the airports of Geneva and Zurich (approximately 2-hour journey). For access to the UNIGE Valais campus see: http://www.unige.ch/cide/en/contacts/

Geneva: Geneva is served by the International Cointrin Airport. Trains run from the airport to "Gare Cornavin" (central train station); the trip takes 6 minutes. Trains from Switzerland, France and Italy arrive at the Gare Cornavin train station in the centre of the city. If you travel by car to Sion: A9 motorway, exit East Sion no. 27, follow the signs UNIGE/UNIL

Sion public transport

A public bus service is available from Sion city centre and Sion rail station to the CCRS. Bus tickets are issued by the driver inside the bus. They are entitled to free movement for 1:30h. Prices: 2.80 CHF. Multiple-journey tickets are also available. They are issued by the driver inside the bus. They are transferable and valid for 6 journeys. Price: 13.40 CHF.

Geneva public transport

Free public transport from the airport to the city centre: at your arrival at Geneva International Airport, you can get a 80-minutes ticket free of charge for a journey to the place of your accommodation. The ticket machine is in the luggage retrieval hall. If you stay in a hotel or youth hostel, the fee of your stay includes the “Geneva Transport Card” which allows you to travel free all day on the public transports network. Otherwise, you can take a single ticket (3.50 CHF) which allows you to travel on public transports for 60 minutes.
