August 2022 - Yamini Ravichandran - postdoc in Aurélien Roux lab

Yamini’s video is a volumetric rendering of a two headed morphogenetic defective Hydra expressing GFP-LifeAct. Pink represents the apical surface of the animal while blue represents the supracellular actin cables running along the animal.

June 2022 - Paule Dagenais - postdoc in the LANE (Milinkovitch’s lab)

Paule’s image shows the lower jaw of a dog embryo, with a nuclear staining. It was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center, on the Ultra Blaze light sheet microscope.

March 2022 - Olivier Mercey - PostDoc Structural Cell Biology: Centriole Architecture and Assembly

Olivier’s image shows Mouse Photoreceptor cells of the retina revealing their highly specialized cilium called outer segment. It was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center, on the Leica SP8 confocal microscope. Cells are stained with Rhodopsin (Purple) and tubulin (Orange).

February 2022 - Dagenais Paule & Timin Grigorii - Postdoc & PhD in the LANE (Milinkovitch’s lab)

Paule and Grigorii’s image shows dermis of an elephant embryo. It was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center, on the Leica SP8Dive multiphoton confocal microscope. Cells are stained with YOPRO1 and collagen (here in blue) viewed with 2nd harmonic generation.

January 2022 - Paule Dagenais - postdoc in the LANE (Milinkovitch’s lab)

Paule’s image shows a coronal section in the tip of an adult mouse rhinarium, showing large vibrissal follicles and transversal muscle fibres, with nuclear staining in magenta and tissue autofluorescence in cyan. It was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center, on the Ultra Blaze light sheet microscope.

November 2021 - Taken during 2021 Microscopy and imaging Course

This image shows somites of a zebrafish embryo. Muscle fibers are shown here in red and were imaged in 2nd harmonic using Leica SP8 Dive multiphoton confocal microscope. It was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center during our annual Light Microscopy Course.

October 2021 - Arielle Flinois - PhD student in the Sandra Citi Laboratory

Arielle's image is titled "Apical microtubule network of epithelial cells". It shows the apical microtubules of a monolayer of mCCD (mouse cortical collecting duct) cells, the image was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center,on the Leica SP8 confocal, after expansion of the sample.

September 2021 - Léa Jacquier - PhD Student in the Plant nutrition and development group (Barberon Lab)

Lea's image is titled "Trichomes on Arabidopsis thaliana seedling". The plant is expressing unlinked GFP, which is mobile via plasmodesmata. The image was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center, on the Leica SP8 confocal microscope.

August 2021 - Laporte Marine - Postdoc Structural Cell Biology: Centriole Architecture and Assembly

Marine's image is titled "Hiking in the Swiss Alps". It was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center, on the Leica SP8 confocal microscope.

July 2021 - Loubery Sylvain - Lecturer Plant Imaging Unit

Sylvain’s image shows a small Acari (probably Aceria anthocoptes) on a common nettle leaf (Urtica dioica), nested among stinging hairs (trichomes or spicules). It was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center, on the Jeol 6510LV SEM and post-colorized.

June 2021 - Grigorii Timin - PhD student in the LANE (Milinkovitch’s lab)

Grigorii’s image shows Collagen fibers (in second harmonic generation) as well as dermal pigment cells (in auto-fluorescence) in African house snake embryonic skin scales. It was taken at the Photonic Bioimaging Center, on our new Leica SP8Dive FALCON.
