Sensibilisation des Présidents des APEA valaisannes aux processus et techniques de médiation 

La CRA a mis en place, à la demande du Service juridique de la sécurité et de la justice (SJSJ/DSIS), un programme sur mesure destiné aux Présidents des Autorité de protection de l’enfant et de l’adulte (APEA valaisannes). Répartie sur trois journées, cette formation visait à sensibiliser les participant-es aux processus et techniques de médiation, en les outillant pour mieux comprendre et gérer les conflits dans le cadre de leurs missions. Cette formation a offert aux Présidents des APEA valaisannes une immersion pratique dans les processus et techniques de médiation. Les participant-es ont découvert comment mieux comprendre et gérer les conflits grâce à une approche interactive mêlant apports théoriques, analyses de cas concrets et mises en situation. L’objectif : développer des compétences clés en communication, en écoute active et en gestion des émotions, tout en explorant le rôle et la posture du médiateur. Cette formation sur mesure a permis aux participant-es d’acquérir des outils immédiatement applicables dans leur quotidien professionnel, renforçant ainsi leur capacité à favoriser le dialogue et à trouver des solutions constructives dans le cadre de la protection de l’enfance. 

Strengthening Child Protection Through Training in Children’s Rights 

At the request of the Child Protection Center of the Republic of Latvia, a tailor-made 4-day training on children’s rights and child protection was designed and delivered in collaboration with the University of Geneva’s Children’s Rights Academy. This program brought together 25 professionals from the Child Protection Center and other institutions directly engaged in safeguarding children’s rights, offering them a unique opportunity to deepen their expertise and strengthen their practice. 

Combining theory and practice, the training introduced participants to international children’s rights standards and explored their application in real-life contexts. Key themes included the United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the best interest’s principle, children’s participation rights, juvenile justice, refugee and asylum-seeking children, child labour, and the right to education. 

Through an interdisciplinary approach, the course fostered critical reflection on the challenges of implementing children’s rights in Latvia, while equipping professionals with concrete tools to reinforce ethical decision-making and child-centered practices. Delivered through a mix of online and in-person sessions, the program encouraged active engagement, case study analysis, and knowledge sharing among participants. 

At the end of the training, participants left with a stronger understanding of children’s rights, a broadened perspective on their role in child protection, and a certificate of attendance to mark their commitment to promoting the best interests of every child.
