Mostafa Babaei is a Ph.D. candidate and research assistant at the Institute of Environmental Sciences (ISE), University of Geneva (UNIGE). Since August 2022, he has been part of the Energy Efficiency group, contributing to the Swiss Energy Research for the Energy Transition (SWEET) – DeCarbCH project. His research focuses on industrial energy efficiency, heat recovery, and process electrification, with an emphasis on high-temperature heat pumps (HTHPs) for steam generation and sector-wide energy optimization.

His work involves the design and integration of heat recovery systems, techno-economic analysis of electrification strategies, and the development of composite curves to assess decarbonization potential across industries.

Mostafa holds a B.Sc. in Mechanical Engineering and an M.Sc. in Energy Systems Engineering from K.N. Toosi University of Technology (Iran). His research background spans refrigeration systems, energy storage, and thermodynamic modeling, including the development of a multigeneration plant with Liquid Air Energy Storage (LAES). Through his research, he aims to enhance energy efficiency in industrial sectors, supporting the transition to low-carbon, high-efficiency heating solutions.
