Objectives
To improve knowledge of the French to English academic translation market and hone participants' academic translation skills
Audience
Professional translators working from French into English wishing to develop their skills in academic translation, with an emphasis on the humanities and social sciences
Programme
The course is divided into four modules:
- An overview of the market for French to English academic translation
- Practical workshops
- Nuts and bolts: dealing with quotations, references and bibliographies
- Funding, contracts, invoicing

Fees
- CHF 1'800.- for twelve two-hour sessions
- CHF 500.- for each module

Cancellation Policy
Withdrawal before the start of the training programme will incur an administration fee of CHF 100.-.

Teaching hours
24 distance teaching hours
The course will be taught online in English in twelve two-hour sessions. It will focus on building knowledge of the field as well as on practical exercises translating humanities and social science texts from French into English. Maximum course enrolment is twelve students, ensuring individual feedback and discussion. Students may choose individual modules or sign up for the entire course.
