GFRI Celebrates the GEMFIN Class of 2024
On the 2nd of November, the Geneva Finance Research Institute (GFRI) held its 2024 commencement ceremony, to celebrate the achievements of its 17 Master of Advance Studies in Finance (GEMFIN) graduates.
The GEMFIN Class of 2024 was joined by loved ones, who traveled for the auspicious occasion, esteemed faculty, and dedicated university staff.
Dr. Michal Paserman, Co-Director of the GEMFIN, opened with a warm welcome to the graduating students, their families and friends. Prof. Olivier Scaillet, Director of GFRI, and Prof. Harald Hau, Director of the GEMFIN congratulated the participants, reinforcing the challenges financial professionals face.
The Graduation Student Address was delivered by Ms. Samina Wadeer, who was selected by her peers. In a moving speech, Samina shared insights from her own learning journey: “If there is one takeaway from our time here, it is that success is not simply about grades, awards, or landing the perfect job. True success is about diligence, kindness, being supportive, and remaining true to ourselves, especially when things get tough. If we carry these values with us into our professional lives, we would not just achieve success, we will build a future filled with purpose, meaning, and fulfillment.”
The Commencement Speaker, Mr. Matthias Teig, Co-founder and Partner at Rothorn Partners and former President of CFA Society Switzerland, gave an inspiring and compelling speech, sharing from his own learning path.
A tradition at GFRI is to confer awards to distinguished individuals, as a way to recognize academic excellence and significant contribution to our community through outstanding acts of leadership.
This year, the GEMFIN Leadership and Community Service Award was presented to Josué Mathieu, who was selected by his peers, for his significant contribution to our community. Josué was also the winner of the GEMFIN Academic Award, for his strong academic performance.
The Graduation Ceremony was followed by lunch at the Parc des Eaux-Vives hotel, overlooking beautiful Lake Geneva.
Congratulations to our GEMFIN graduates!
We are delighted to welcome you to the GFRI alumni community and look forward to staying in touch.
