GFRI Holds First GEMFIN Graduation Ceremony
This Fall semester, GFRI hosted its first GEMFIN graduation ceremony at the Parc des Eaux-Vives, to celebrate the achievements of its inaugural cohort of the Geneva Master of Advance Studies in Finance (GEMFIN) program.
The GEMFIN Class of 2022 graduating students were joined by family and friends, who traveled for the auspicious occasion.
Dr. Michal Paserman, Co-director of the GEMFIN, opened with a warm welcome to the graduating students. Prof. Olivier Scaillet, Director of the Geneva Finance Research Institute (GFRI), and Prof. Harald Hau, Director of the GEMFIN congratulated the participants.
The Graduation Student Address was delivered by the GEMFIN representative student, Mr. Luca Dacic, who shared insights and special experiences from his own learning journey.
The Commencement Speaker, Mr. Ivan Schouker, a FinTech Boards Chairman and Director, gave an inspiring speech on “Smart Luck”. He told the life story of Albert Gallatin, an alumnus of the University of Geneva, known as the Swiss American Founding Father, to demonstrate the Smart Luck practice.
He concluded with a quote from President Thomas Jefferson who said “I find that the harder I work, the more luck I seem to have”. Mr. Schouker’s full Commencement Speech is available here.
Finally, the Geneva Finance Research Institute confers awards to distinguished individuals, as a way to recognize academic excellence and significant contribution to our community through outstanding acts of leadership.
This year, during the ceremony, the GEMFIN Academic Award was presented by the program Co-directors to Shawn Froidevaux, for his strong academic performance. The winners of the Leadership and Community Service Awards were Luka Dacić and Xi Chen, for their significant contribution to our community.
The Graduation Ceremony was followed by lunch at the Parc des Eaux-Vives hotel, overlooking beautiful Lake Geneva.
Congratulations to our first GEMFIN graduates!
We are delighted to welcome you to the GFRI alumni community and look forward to staying in touch.
