Workshops

This workshop will mostly involve free discussion and exchanges. We will begin with a short introduction about the relationship between science and ethics. How can science contribute to ethics? And reversely how can ethics contribute to good science? We will spend most of the discussion time on the latter, and focus on the topic of responsible conduct in research (RCR). Participants will play online serious games addressing integrity dilemmas related to collaboration in research and data management. Based on these dilemmas we will discuss the grey zone between obvious misconduct and acceptable behaviour in research. In the course of the discussion, we will also address topics such as researchers’ level of responsibility for their misconducts when they are trapped in a research environment full of toxic incentives. We will think of possible solutions to foster integrity for the sake of good science.

This workshop will be divided into four main parts covering how science is perceived by the public, how it is communicated and what is the role of social media in the context of fake news. It will be followed by a discussion about the key steps to build a presentation that engages the audience and delivers a clear and memorable message. The final part will consist of working groups focusing on defining a strategy to develop a campaign for crisis communication.

How you think determines how you feel, act and interact in the world. It shapes how you perceive your work and how you engage with the environment around you. It can enhance or sabotage your motivation, enjoyment, and success for what you do. Learn to see the role it plays and learn to identify behavior patterns (e.g. procrastination, rumination, avoidance & worry) that maintain those thinking patterns. More importantly, learn to reshape them to serve you and your goals.

You have always dreamed of being an entrepreneur and believe your idea is highly promising? We have designed this interactive workshop for you!

During 2 hours you will learn about the local startup ecosystem, but most importantly have the chance to pitch your idea to your peers. Pitching is a key component of building a startup, this workshop will enable you to learn how to write a 3 min pitch as a team and then practice pitching while receiving feedback from a startup founder. You don’t have a startup idea yet so no worries this workshop is still of interest for you as you can join someone with a startup idea and help build the pitch.
