Laboratory for Uncertainty, Collective Intelligence, and Decision-Making (LUCID)
Advancing Research, Education, and Open Collaboration in Decision-Making Under Risk and Uncertainty
At LUCID we are dedicated to understanding and improving decision-making under risk and uncertainty. We combine research, teaching, and outreach to explore how individuals and groups make choices when outcomes are uncertain. Our work aims to provide practical insights that inform better decision-making in everyday life and in professional settings.
Research Areas
Decision-Making and Learning Under Risk and Uncertainty
We study the behavioral, computational, and neural foundations of decision-making. Our projects focus on economic and financial decisions, using controlled experiments, computational models, and neuroimaging to investigate how people assess risk and learn from uncertain outcomes.
Collective Decision-Making
We examine how groups solve problems and make decisions more effectively than individuals alone. By studying collaborative environments such as hackathons and team-based challenges, we aim to uncover the factors that enhance collective intelligence.
The Sustainable Mindset
We explore how individuals balance short-term rewards with long-term sustainability goals. Through behavioral experiments and field studies, we seek to understand and promote decision strategies that encourage environmentally and socially responsible choices.
