Bidisciplinary Master of Science provides students with a Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Biology or Earth and Environmental Sciences the opportunity to further their studies in a field other than the one chosen at the Bachelor level. This programme prepares graduates to work at the crossroads between two scientific branches, in research or in teaching.

Combining both fields of study.

A Bachelor's degree in one of the following fields: Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics, Chemistry, Biology or Earth and Environmental Sciences; or an equivalent degree. Up to 30 credits of supplementary courses may be necessary depending on the chosen major-minor combination.

Deadline for candidates that hold a foreign bachelor's degree: 28 February 2026
(30 April 2026 for candidates that hold a Swiss bachelor's degree at the start of the next academic year AND, according to their nationality, are not subject to a visa for entry into Switzerland for more than 90 days, according to Swiss government requirements and regardless of their current place of residence, or for candidates holding a Swiss residence permit that is valid beyond 30 April.)

Students may earn up to 30 credits while on exchange. They may also conduct research outside the university, under the supervision of a faculty member, or do a work placement at a leading external laboratory in order to complete their Master's degree.

The Bidisciplinary Master's programme allows graduates to work in areas that interface between two scientific disciplines, but also enables those intending to pursue a career in science education to often teach two subjects at secondary level I and at least one subject at secondary level II.
