The Master in Urban and Regional Planning is a joint Master's run by UNIGE and HES-SO. It offers in-depth training in the areas of land-use planning, urban development and landscape planning, both in the northern and southern hemispheres. The programme focuses on providing students with practical experience (through internships or project-based workshops) so that they obtain the expertise they need to make territorial diagnoses, design and implement urban planning projects, and coordinate urban and regional development.
Students also acquire in-depth knowledge of the technical, legal and practical tools frequently used by professionals. Critical thinking is another major focus of the programme: in addition to mastering various tools and techniques, students must also be able to analyse current and future issues affecting urban and regional development in order to put forward innovative solutions.
The programme prepares students for the job market, with a sharp focus on practical work (workshops, case studies and internships).

COMPLEMENTARY TRAINING:
As a complement to the Master's in Territorial Development, students have the option of taking the Complementary Certificate in Geomatics (30 credits). The certificate is designed to provide students with training centred on new simulation technologies which use spatial referencing, in a practical, interdisciplinary setting.
