Objectives

IDHEA’s research activities aim to contribute to the field of institutional theory and philosophy of governance by developing a fine-grained methodological framework to examine the practical conflicts faced by public officeholders when dealing with institutional dysfunctions and their repercussions on the moral quality of public institutional action. IDHEA addresses two key interlocked research questions:

How does a DH methodology facilitate the identification, diagnosis, and redress of institutional dysfunctions?

How does examining institutional rule-violation with a DH methodology enhance our understanding of institutional action: the interactions among officeholders, their emotional challenges, and trust dynamics?

By asking these questions, the project pursues the following specific objectives:
Objective 1
DH to diagnose institutional dysfunctions
Objective 2
DH to explore the emotional landscape of institutional dysfunctions
Objective 3
To analyze how institutional dysfunctions relate to officeholders’ trust dynamics
