Philanthropy is not only about giving money

The way organizations and individuals practice philanthropy has changed tremendously over the past 10 years, and it is only the beginning . The tendency is no longer to solve problems, but to prevent them in the first place by tackling their root causes. The use of capital will need to be more effective; companies and organizations will not be able to afford to waste money contributing to projects that cannot reach the right causes.

GSEM Assistant Professor Giuseppe Ugazio in collaboration with Laetitia Gill (Geneva Centre for Philanthropy), and Danièle Castle (Genevensis Healthcare Communications), are launching a new continuing education program in Strategic and Operational Philanthropy this autumn at the University of Geneva. The objective is to gather practitioners and academics to analyze the complex journey of promoting societies’ well-being and making smart decisions that consider both moral and financial principles.
