Publication of the book «L'intégrité académique. Du concept à l'action» by Honorary Professor Michelle Bergadaà

In the face of increasing attacks on science, the distortions amplified by social media, and the disruptions brought about by the rapid rise of artificial intelligence, the issue of academic integrity has become more crucial than ever. It is in this context that the book “L'intégrité académique. Du concept à l'action” by Honorary Professor Michelle Bergadaà is published.
Drawing on twenty years of field experience, more than two hundred mediations and ethics committee cases, fourteen summer schools, and five interdisciplinary conferences, this book offers a framework for understanding, analysing, and strengthening integrity within higher education.
The book is structured into three sections. The first part provides a clear and accessible lexicon of the science of academic integrity, inviting readers to adopt and question these concepts.
The second explores how to translate academic values into norms and proposes a structured method for addressing transgressions. The third part is aimed more specifically at institutional leaders, presenting five meta‑rules designed to rebuild a shared culture of integrity.
Far from limiting itself to issues of plagiarism or scientific fraud, the book examines integrity in all its dimensions: recruitment, evaluation of researchers, governance practices, conflicts of interest, and more broadly the responsibility of academics toward their institutions and society. Accessible to early‑career researchers of all genders, as well as to university presidents and leaders, it offers conceptual and practical insights that surprise at every chapter.
