The Sankofa bird is an iconic image from a minority graphic/writing system: the Adinkra symbols of Ghana. With its head turned backwards, the bird represents the proverb, "One must turn to the past to move forward". Mirroring this symbolism, this workshop draws on ancestral heritage to inform future efforts in script preservation and revitalisation.
