During your exchange

A study plan established before your exchange application is usually based on the previous year’s course catalogue and is therefore provisional.

Once you arrive at your host university, you should contact your Academic Advisor (or equivalent) and check that your study plan is feasible, and thus validate your final study plan.

Please refer to the course catalogue of your host university.

Announcing your arrival

In general, orientation sessions are held before the semester begins. Make sure to attend! In most cases, attendance is mandatory.

It is also recommended to go to the International Relations Office of your host university to see if your registration is in order. You can also announce your arrival to the person in charge of exchanges at your host faculty or department.

Changing the length of your stay

> Extending the length of your stay:

If you wish to extend your stay at your host university you should contact the International Affairs Office or the Faculty of your host university to see if they are willing to welcome you an additional semester.

In the affirmative, you should make sure that your Faculty/Institute agrees with this extension and with your new choice of courses. Then you will send a proof of this agreement to the International Affairs Office at UNIGE, who will register the extension in your student file.

If you are entitled to a Swiss mobility scholarship, you will receive the payment for the second semester.

> Shortening the duration of your stay:

If you need to shorten your stay at your host university it is important to inform the International Relations Office of the University of Geneva and of your host university.

> Cancelation of your stay:

If you must cancel your stay, you should inform immediately your Faculty/Institute and the International Relations Offices at both universities.
