In memoriam Annick Schmid

Annick Schmid passed away on Friday 5 May 2023, three days after a sudden and unexpected health accident at her workplace. She spent most of her career at the University of Geneva. After a first professional experience in the private sector, she joined the Mathematics Section in 1994, where she spent 30 years as coordinator.

Annick Schmid has contributed enormously to the smooth running of the Section. Through the years, she experienced all the major changes and the growth of the Section. She was for a long time a precious memory of the institution and a warm confidante for many of us. Highly appreciated by all the staff and students of the Section, she was a competent and a conscientious person who could be relied upon. Her colleagues will lose a very dedicated person, as well as someone with a very open mind and excellent human qualities. Our thoughts are with her family and friends.
