Shaula Fiorelli works at the Section of Mathematics of the University of Geneva. After completing a PhD in real enumerative geometry, she turned to science communication. In 2015, together with Pierre-Alain Cherix, she co-founded the Mathscope, the first mathematics discovery and outreach laboratory within a Swiss university, which she has been directing ever since.

She also serves as Outreach Officer for NCCR SwissMAP. Since 2024, she has additionally been involved with G·EM, the UNIGE structure dedicated to mathematics outreach. She has taken part in many public events, such as the Nuit de la science, the Nuit des musées, and the RTS show L’Oreille des Kids. She notably initiated an exhibition on Leonardo da Vinci created for the 500th anniversary of his death, as well as an exhibition devoted to Italo Calvino, exploring the links between literature and mathematics. She has also played the role of a forensic investigator in the play Mystery at Mustard Manor, performed for some 2,500 7th-grade HarmoS pupils.

Recognized for her expertise in mathematical outreach, she is regularly invited to collaborate on mediation projects, including La Moulinette, a tool that supports science communicators in a reflective approach. She also serves as a jury member for Science on Stage. Drawing on collaborations with international institutions such as the Palais de la Découverte (Paris), the MMI (Lyon), and MoMath (New York), she frequently designs activities for exhibitions, festivals, and conferences, as well as for many school environments. While she no longer pursues academic research in mathematics, she is now interested in mathematics education as applied to outreach and publishes regularly on this topic.
