Dr. Franceso SINIGAGLIA
Dr Francesco Sinigaglia
Post-doc
Biography:
Francesco obtained his PhD degree in Astronomy and Astrophysics in December 2023, jointly from the University of Padova (UniPD) in Italy and the Universidad de la Laguna (ULL)/Instituto de Astrofísica de Canarias (IAC) in Spain. The PhD thesis was carried out under the supervision of Prof. Giulia Rodighiero (UniPD) and Prof. Francisco-Shu Kitaura (ULL/IAC), and focused on the role of the neutral hydrogen in galaxy evolution and in cosmology. Francesco joined the "Starbursts in the Universe" group as a postdoc at the University of Geneva in November 2023, working on radiative transfer postprocessing of hydrodynamical simulations of galaxies and the generation of mock images of dust continuum and spectral lines (e.g. H-alpha, CO, C[II]), in the view of ALMA, JWST and SKA.
Research interests:
- Radiative transfer simulations and mock images generation
- The impact of cold gas on galaxy evolution
- Large scale structure of the Universe and the cosmic web
- Analysis of cosmological hydrodynamic simulations
- 21cm line observations of galaxies and spectral stacking
- The neutral hydrogen as a cosmological probe
