Analyse and critically review major humanitarian crises, past and present, as well as future challenges, from an interdisciplinary perspective
Use specialised problem-solving skills integrating knowledge on humanitarian crises acquired throughout the courses
Develop creative and flexible procedures to solve problems
Formulate and defend an argument taking into account ethical issues and humanitarian principles
Take responsibility in challenging and moving contexts by formulating and implementing appropriate, coherent, flexible and creative strategies
Demonstrate leadership and innovation in managing programmes, projects and teams
Enhance self-management in a stressful and demanding environment, identifying one’s own strenghts and limitations
CERAH Master student in humanitarian action
Professional working in humanitarian action or in an international organization wishing to reflect critically on his/her own experience in an academic setting
A core curriculum of 3 months of intensive coursework on the theory and fundamental questions of humanitarianism
Three research methodology weeks
2 elective 7-week courses on a specialized subject to choose among: Designing Strategies and Projects for Humanitarian Action • Communication, Advocacy and Negotiation for Humanitarian Action • Disaster Risk Management • Health in Humanitarian Emergencies • Legal Environment of Humanitarian Action • People Management in Humanitarian Settings
A dissertation on a topic chosen by the participant to hand over in June or August
