Latin Language and Literature

  • Master
  • Humanities

This programme covers the period from the 7th century BC, when the Latin language was first recorded, to the 7th century AD, the period of Antiquity in which the last Latin author lived.
Students will interpret texts in order to learn about the context in which different literary, historical, religious and philosophical works were produced by ancient and contemporary authors. The programme covers all areas of Latin culture, including the epic tradition and Augustan poetry. Students who are new to Latin must first follow the introductory Latin course given by the Faculty.
