Scan on demand

Scan on demand is a service that allows you to obtain copies of articles or partial copies of other documents available in the UNIGE Library collections. It applies to the following collections:

  • Sites Uni Arve and Uni CMU sites: all collections
  • Site Uni Mail: collections excluded from loan
  • Site Uni DBU: collections excluded from loan, only for the UNIGE/HUG community
  • Site Uni Bastions: periodicals excluded from loan and encyclopedia/dictionary articles, only for the UNIGE/HUG community (max. 3 requests per day).

Documents not available in Geneva libraries can be requested via the document supply service (ILL).

Preconditions

  • Register on the SLSP platform via a SWITCH edu-ID account
  • This service is reserved for members of the UNIGE/HUG community or residents in Switzerland.
  • All reproductions, regardless of their provenance, are issued for the sole purpose of research or studies, devoid of any commercial purpose. By checking the box on the order form, the requester agrees to comply with the Federal Act on Copyright and Related Rights (CopA). According to the CopA, the full copy of a book or of a journal issue is prohibited.

How to do?

Method 1

  1. Go to swisscovery and log in with your Switch edu-ID account.
  2. Search for the needed document in the catalog.
  3. In the list of results, click on the desired title to access the details of the reference.
  4. In this new window, click on the link "Demander Article ou Chapitre".
  5. The window with the order form opens. Fill in your contact information as well as the complete reference of the desired article or chapter. Some information is already pre-filled from the catalog.
  6. Click on the button « Envoyer la commande ».
  7. The scanned documents are delivered by email to the address indicated at the time of the order.

Method 2 (to prefer if you already have the DOI or PMID identifier of the document)

  1. Go to swisscovery and log in with your Switch edu-ID account.
  2. Open the form « Citation Linker » in the top banner.
  3. Fill in the form with either the DOI, PMID, or other information that would identify the desired article or chapter.
  4. Click on the button « Submit ».
  5. In this new window, check if the collected data corresponds to the desired document and click on the link « Demander article ou chapitre ».
  6. The window with the order form opens. Fill in your contact information and check the complete reference of the desired article or chapter.
  7. Click on the button « Envoyer la commande ».
  8. The scanned documents are delivered by email to the address indicated at the time of the order.
