BasArt is a collaborative database of exhibition catalogues from around the world, gathered from 19th- and 20th-century sources. Its interface allows for advanced queries and quantitative, cartographic, and chronological visualizations, as well as simple list views.
All data are open access and can be downloaded in CSV format. The charts can also be exported as image files.
It has been developed since 2009 within the framework of the Artl@s Project (École normale supérieure, ANR and Labex Transfers until 2019, then University of Geneva), the Imago Project (University of Geneva / ENS, ERC / Erasmus, 2021–2023), and the Visual Contagions Project (University of Geneva, SNSF 2021–2026), under the direction of Prof. B. Joyeux-Prunel.
