The goal of the Zebrafish Core Facility (ZFCF) is to enable access to the zebrafish model organism to local research groups.
Zebrafish are used for studies of embryonic development, to mimic of a variety of human diseases, and forpharmacological screening of small molecules. Genetic manipulation and transient changes in gene expression canprovide genotype-phenotype correlations, while near transparent embryogenesis offers excellent in vivo imaging possibilities.
Our core facility provides various experimental methods such as embryo microinjection, the preparation, treatment and imaging of embryos and larvae, genome editing and transgenesis, and quantification of larval swimming behavior.
We can provide aquarium space for zebrafish lines and sperm freezing and IVF to store and reactivate them. The core facility has a biosafety level 2 laboratory for microbial infection and inhibition studies.
