The team’s journey started in September 2021 when ELSA (the European Law Students Association) announced the mock case. Following, the team prepared written submissions and filed the same on 15 January 2022. On February 2022, the team competed in one of the two European Regional Rounds. The Regional Rounds took place online due to the ongoing Covid pandemic. The team delivered an excellent performance gaining access to the John H. Jackson Moot Court Finals and qualified for the final round of the First European Oral Round.

In June 2022, the team participated in the Final Global Oral Round with other finalist teams from all over the world at the University of Geneva and the World Trade Organisation. Notwithstanding a remarkable performance against the University of International Business and Economics, School of Law, China; as Complainant, and the NALSAR University of Law, Hyderabad, India, as Respondent, the team did not qualify to the next stages of the competition.

The University team benefited from the financial and professional support of the Law Faculty’s Dean Office, and the head of the Public International Law and International Organization Department. The law firm Akin Gump also provided indispensable financial support for the team in the competition.
