Cardiologist and epidemiologist

Pablo Perel is a cardiologist and epidemiologist, who has dedicated his career to improving the care of people living with cardiovascular diseases in low- and middle-income countries, and humanitarian settings.

He currently serves as a Professor of Clinical Epidemiology at the London School of Hygiene & Tropical Medicine and as Senior Science Advisor at the World Heart Federation.

Professor Perel serves as editor of several journals, including Global Heart, Diagnostic & Prognostic Research, and the Mayo Clinical Proceedings Digital Health, and as editorial advisor of the Cochrane Heart Group.

In addition to his academic and editorial roles, Dr. Perel is actively engaged in international organizations, serving in leadership positions at the Global Alliance for Chronic Diseases, the Foundation for Innovative Diagnostics, the Medicine Patent Pools, and the World Health Organization. He is a member of several scientific advisory committees and technical groups, where he helps guide research and policy decisions in the field of cardiovascular diseases.

Dr. Perel is also a passionate educator and mentor, with over 25 years of experience developing curricula on the epidemiology of cardiovascular diseases, providing lectures and keynotes at international events hosted by the World Heart Federation, the American College of Cardiology, the European Society of Cardiology, and others, and supervising MSc and PhD students on this important topic.
