Mission and History
The Fondation L'Enseignement Mathématique was established in Geneva in 1978 with the purpose of publishing the Revue l'Enseignement Mathématique, which was founded in 1899 by Henri Fehr. The foundation also publishes other works, including monographs, and organizes meetings of mathematicians.
Since 2017, the Foundation has annually awarded the Henri Fehr Prize, which includes a CHF 2,000 endowment. This prize is given based on the recommendation of the College of Professors of the Section of Mathematics to the best doctoral thesis in mathematics of the year at the University of Geneva.
As of 2024, the Foundation has expanded its mission to include support for projects that promote mathematics education. This includes backing Genève Évasions Mathématiques (G·EM), an initiative at the University of Geneva dedicated to popularizing mathematics through scientific mediation.
