The general objective of my study is to contribute to the knowledge of the responses of phytoplankton communities to the effects of cold fronts/storms in a subtropical shallow lake (Lake Mangueira - TAIM, Brazil) and in a temperate deep lake (Lake Geneva - Switzerland)

ACADEMIC EDUCATION

July 2014 to December 14 PhD student Fellowships (6 months)
Institute F.-A. Forel, University of Geneva, Switzerland.
The general purpose of my study is contribute to improved knowledge about phytoplankton community responses to the effects of cold fronts /storms in a subtropical shallow lake (Lake Mangueira – TAIM, Brazil) and a temperate deep lake (Lake Geneva - Switzerland): Evaluate the effect of cold fronts on community structure and dynamics plus species richness and functional diversity (functional groups, size classes, life forms) in subtropical and temperate lakes. Characterize the phytoplankton community before after the occurrence of the disturbance in order to understand the mechanisms regarding stability, resilience and resistance of phytoplankton in subtropical and temperate lakes studied. (supervisor: Prof. Bastiaan Ibelings).
