Manon joined Empa as a PhD student in the Urban Energy Systems Laboratory in December 2025. Her doctoral research, conducted within the SWEET CoSi consortium, focuses on validating neighborhood- and district-level energy system models and integrating social factors, using retrospective simulations, real-world demonstrators, and data-driven approaches. In close collaboration with the University of Geneva, her work aims to strengthen the link between urban-scale energy modelling and social sciences. She is jointly supervised by Prof. Evelina Trutnevyte at the Renewable Energy Systems Group at the University of Geneva, and by Dr Georgios Mavromatidis and Dr Binod Koirala at Empa. She holds an MSc in Energy Science and Technology from ETH Zurich, where her master’s thesis focused on advancing energy sufficiency in Swiss communities.
