Sanni joined the Renewable Energy Systems group at the University of Geneva as a PhD student in April 2025. Her research focuses on integrating societal aspects into energy systems modeling to better align technological pathways with social realities, including public acceptance, behavior and equity. Her work is part of the SWEET CoSi research project.

Sanni has an interdisciplinary background, with an MSc in Environmental Sciences from the University of Geneva (2024) and a MA in European Studies from the University of Bonn (2016). Her professional background includes six years in political advocacy and interest representation in Brussels, where she worked as a policy advisor on European climate and energy policy for energy-intensive industry. Prior to starting her PhD, she also worked as a research assistant at the RES group, focusing on social acceptance of emerging technologies and equity implications of energy transitions.
