The palladium-catalysed “metallo-ene” step in a cyclisation/β-elimination reaction sequence has been shown to be suprafacial with respect to the olefinic component. This reaction has been applied to the synthesis of a trisubstituted exocyclic alkenyl pyrrolidine with complete stereocontrol.
