🚀 Institutional transformation
At the University of Geneva, no idea should be left to gather dust on a Post-it note. Through our institutional transformation ecosystem, we provide a comprehensive, bottom-up approach that allows any member of the university community to turn an idea into a sustainable solution or contribute to its development.
The transformation ecosystem comes to life through three mutually reinforcing pillars
- Institutional Innovation Incubator
- Communities of practice
- Events
Together, they ensure that transformation is not a project with an end date, but a living practice: visible, repeatable, and owned by everyone.
Institutional Innovation Incubator
Tailor-made support to help you develop promising prototypes, including coaching, methodology, funding and networking.
Some ideas are born in a corridor, during a hackathon or an impromptu discussion. However, for them to become concrete solutions that are useful to the entire university, they require time, method, and support. This is precisely the role of the Office of Transformation's Incubator.
The incubator provides a framework for turning promising prototypes into robust projects ready for implementation. Although initially designed to accommodate initiatives from Hackademia, it is gradually opening up to the entire university community, including students, teachers, researchers, and staff who wish to develop existing ideas.
The incubator offers
- Methodological support to help you structure the stages of your project and manage its progress effectively
- Personalised coaching tailored to your needs
- Targeted financial support to test, iterate and consolidate solutions
- Networking opportunities, connecting projects with relevant experts and services
- Continuous monitoring to maximise the chances of long-lasting adoption within the institution
The "Demain l'UNIGE" event marks the end of the incubation period. Projects are presented to the community, inspiring new initiatives and demonstrating that everyone has a role to play in transforming the university.
Please note that the incubator is a new institutional tool which is currently under development. A pilot phase is planned for 2025–2026. Information on how it works, admission requirements, and benefits will be published soon.
Communities of practice
Change sticks when people share practices.
Our communities gather like-minded people, sharing experiences and helping each other.
Events
Designed to seize emerging ideas and foster individual initiative.
Our events create momentum! From idea to prototype, Hackademia convenes students, staff, and researchers for a boot camp and a two-day hackathon to co-design solutions that improve the University's services, culminating in public demos. Each year, Responsible Digital Day mobilises our community around digital sobriety, accessibility, sovereignty, and democracy through campus-wide activities. Demain l’UNIGE shines a spotlight on projects shaping tomorrow’s university, showcasing collaborative transformation efforts from across the community.
Together, our events set a clear rhythm — discover, prototype, showcase — so ideas meet allies, gather feedback, and scale.
